I don't have a lot of experience blogging, in fact, this is the first time I've ever done something like this. We had a lot of fun, though it was really hot. It took a little to figure out how to use a fruit picker and there were a few... complications... but we really enjoyed the experience and found it absolutely invaluable.
So yeah, Thursday was the first picking day for Fruits of Labor! Jessica and I were able to go to four different houses in one day for pears, apples, and plums. We weighed the fruits when we donated them the next day and as it turns out, we gathered 155 pounds! I'd say it was a pretty successful first day.
I wore a pair of new shoes because I wasn't smart and didn't think it through, so they got pretty dirty, but they're okay! I cleaned them when I got home and got the gunk off. We went and got lunch at the Amélie Café and Wine Bar in Fairfax, which was our first time there because neither of us really eat out a lot in Fairfax–unless you count ice cream at Scoop, which we got as well–and it was really good! This will probably sound like a promotion, but I really did enjoy it. Service was good, food was good; light, delicious, and healthy, and the outside seating was really nice. Plus, my best friend was there so of course there was never a boring moment.
